Rivers rerun: PDP wins another senatorial seat

Today NG  The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Osinachukwu Ideozu, as the winner of Saturday’s rerun election in Rivers west senatorial district.

Ideozu polled 107,166 votes to defeat the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, Otelemaba Amachree, who had 48,898 votes, according to the result announced on Monday.
Recall that George Sekibo of the PDP had won the Rivers East senatorial district with 93,098 votes to the 34,193 votes scored by Andrew Uchendu of the APC.
In Rivers South East senatorial district, APC’s Magnus Abe scored 125,938 votes to clinch victory over Olaka Nwogu of the PDP who got 25,394 votes.
