Gambia’s President-elect Adama Barrow will be inaugurated on Thursday at the country’s embassy in Dakar, Senegal, just ECOWAS troops move to enter his country to oust President Yahya Jammeh.

Jammeh’s tenure terminates on Thursday.

Gambia: Barrow moves to Senegal for safety

NAN    Gambia’s President-elect Adama Barrow is now in neighbouring Senegal, a coalition member and local media said on Sunday, a day after West African leaders failed to persuade President Yahya Jammeh to step aside.

Barrow went with President Muhammadu Buhari to attend the Africa-France summit in Bamako, the Malian capital on Friday, from where he appeared to have moved to Senegal.

Gambia: Court adjourns hearing on election petition

NAN   The Gambia’s top court has adjourned until January 10, a case filed by President Yahya Jammeh, who is seeking to annul the results of the presidential elections.

The Supreme Court, presided by Nigerian-born Chief Justice Emmanuel Fagbenle, ordered the adjournment.
