Stop congratulating me – New NNPC GMD tells friends

The new Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Dr. Emmanuel Kachikwu, has called on friends and well-wishers to back him in prayers as he takes over the helm of affairs of the oil sector.
Kachikwu said, rather than placing congratulatory adverts for him in the media, his well-wishers should pray that he would be able to carry out the onerous task ahead.
A statement issued by the Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, NNPC, Mr. Ohi Alegbe, stated that the new GMD “appealed to friends and well-wishers to stop placing congratulatory adverts on him in the media.”
The statement further added that Kachikwu, who assumed duty as the 17th GMD of the corporation on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, said he saw his appointment as a serious national assignment that did not require the frivolity of congratulatory adverts and the celebration they connote.
The GMD reportedly said he “would rather appreciate that friends and well-wishers support him with their prayers for divine guidance to carry out the onerous task ahead.”
The President had in late June dissolved the NNPC board
