Barcelona's stars decided not to go, with the clash against Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday.
Andres Iniesta, Barcelona captain, sent a video message to FIFA to apologise for his own absence from The Best awards gala, and those of his team-mates. Iniesta was chosen with Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Gerard Pique as part of the best team of 2016.

In the message Iniesta said "we want to show our gratitude at having been chosen and apologise for not coming to the gala."
