The Nigerian Tribune>>> The new wave of crisis in the Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a new turn, following a court judgement that removed Gboyega Oguntuwase-led executive as the state working committee of the party.

Following the judgement which gave the reins of the party to the Chief Williams Ajayi-led group, the faction released a communique on Thursday, in which it announced that Oguntuwase, his secretary, Mr. Tope Anjorin and publicity secretary of his faction, Jackson Adebayo, had been suspended for anti-party activities.

In a statement signed by the Deputy Chairman of the faction, Mr Olasunkanmi Ogunbiyi; Secretary, Elder Obe Ilesanmi and its Public Relations Officer, Mr Dayo Owolabi, they said the action became imperative, following series of alleged anti-party allegations leveled against the victims.
They said: “Sequel to various allegations  of anti-party activities leveled against them, particularly based on their roles in the  parallel congress held at Adetiloye hall, under the supervision of Mr Ayodele Fayose on 10th May, 2016.
“And upon investigation, more importantly the judgement of the Federal High Court of 24th January, 2017, the SWC hereby resolved to suspend Mr Oguntuase and his team of impostors forthwith.”
However, Oguntuwase, who addressed newsmen in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, described the action of Ajayi as “infantile,” saying “the judgement they are relying on is being contested and they know it is a humour that holds no water.”
Oguntuwase said Ajayi was not “known to the party and we should ignore his vituperations.”
He said that his executive had faith in the judiciary and added that they were putting their papers together to challenge the judgement in the Appeal Court, saying “we are believing God
On the suspension, he said “you cannot suspend a man standing on legitimacy. You cannot suspend a man who is in firm control of the party; you will be fooling yourself to say a man who has all the 177 councillors behind him is suspended; who has the governor and the state executive council behind him. I don’t want a divided PDP and we shall be victorious.”
He said the suspension could not be recognised because there was no meeting of the state working committee to ratify the action, there was no panel to investigate the members.
The Federal High Court sitting in Ado Ekiti, in a judgement delivered on Tuesday by Justice Taiwo Taiwo, dissolved Oguntuase’s executive and  ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to grant Ajayi’s group recognition.
