Madonna adopts Malawian twins

Madonna: with one of the girls adopted in Malawi
Madonna, United States (US) singer, songwriter, actress and philanthropist, has been granted permission by a Malawian High Court to adopt two more children from the country.
Her Malawian adoptees rise to four by this latest ruling.
A spokesperson for the judiciary confirmed that Madonna was personally in the court for the hearing.

“Today the High Court made a ruling that she should go ahead and adopt the two children,” Mlenga Mvula told Reuters, adding that the musician was pleased at the ruling.
AFP further reports that she is set to adopt two four-year-old twin girls, Esther and Stella. The pop star had barely a week ago disclaimed a report that she filed for the adoption of more children from Malawi.
Madonna at the time said she was in Malawi for charity work, contradicting Mvula, the judicial spokesman’s account that she was in town in connection with the adoption.
Madonna adopted Malawian children David Banda in 2006, and later adopted Mercy James in 2009. Her previous adoptions have stirred outrage with some citizens accusing government of allowing her to break the laws that ban non-residents from adopting children.
