Guinness Sacks Director, G.Ms In 400 Staffers Lay Off Across Board Over Sharp Drop In Profit
Information filtering in have it that some 400 workers have been laid off by Guinness Nigeria plc.
Findings revealed that this development comes in the midst of revelations of a sharp drop in the profit of brewery company in the past 9 months.
Guinness Nigeria experienced an 83% percent shortfall from N84.75billion to N69.6billion
The occurrence transformed into an all time low sale of the company shares at N1.84 at the time of the annoucement.
Digs by our reporter have revealed a record all time share price wasn't the only adverse effect of the major profit loss - but a shock disengagement of about 400 staffers as well.
The development reportedly came to be this month.
Impeccable sources disclosed the exercise resulted in unrest amongst staffs at the Ogba brewery last week.
The sack of some of the staffers resulted in reorganisation which did not go down well with many.
Further findings top earners such as General Managers and some Directors were affected in the development meant to serve as fail safe measure in face of dwindling profit.
Further findings revealed the sack was carried out in the name of redundancy.
Sources however claim there is a brewing crisis over severance pay and manner of disengagement.
Some of the sacked workers are claiming victimisation.
Further revelations have it that Monica Peach the Human Resource Director is currently caught in the unraveling saga.
