Fayose denies collecting money from Obanikoro

Fayose denies collecting money from Obanikoro

The Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, has dismissed the alleged confession of former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro that he received fund from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) under Col Sambo Dasuki to fund his election in 2014.

Fayose in a statement by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, said the alleged confession was part of the plan of his detractors to implicate him with a view to removing him from office.

The governor who maintained that his election was legitimately funded, said his response to Obanikoro’s claim was  just to fulfil all righteousness, saying, “Nigerians are more interested in having food on their tables.

Those who arranged the dramatic and compromised return of Senator Obanikoro to Nigeria obviously did so in continuation of their project ‘Fayose must be implicated at all cost’.”

He challenged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to beam its searchlights on the funding of APC elections, saying, “Since we are now in the era in which financial assistance from Nigerians to fund elections is being criminalised, the international community, especially those funding EFCC must insist that the commission probes the funding of APC elections before further funds are released to the commission.”
