Benue Gov, Ortom, denies involvement in N4.29bn fraud ---Punch

The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, has denied reports that he is under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for a N4.29bn fraud.
Ortom said the allegations were false and aimed at tarnishing his image and that of his administration, according to a statement by his special adviser on media and ICT, Tarhav Agezua.
The statement added that the governor had not gone into any transaction with anybody as was being reported.
Ortom was quoted as saying that no official of the executive arm is under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission or the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission for any reason whatsoever, adding that there was no basis for such.
He appealed to members of the public to disregard the spurious allegations and be assured that efforts to recover the loot are on course.
