………Urges Awori Natives to Unite Against External Forces
Sheikh Kamaldeen Olohungbebe |
Foremost Islamic cleric, Sheikh Kamaldeen Olohungbebe in
one of his outings this Ramadan in Ota admonishes the Olota in-Council not to waste much time before installing new Olota of Ota.
While delivering his lectures at Owoniwura Mosque, Oke-Ijana, Ota, Ogun State, the soft-spoken Sheikh said the need to install a new Olota of Ota as soon as
possible is very important as the ancient Awori kingdom is currently facing
series of political marginalization, external and illegal invasion of its territory.
“There is no human on the corridors of political power to
protect Awori’s interest but we have Allah who will fight against any individual who
has the intention or plans to reduce Ota and its people to nothingness.”
He also added that ‘’the people of Ota are being repaid
through deliberate political marginalization for their kindness, warm
reception, accommodation and love for strangers”
He claimed that ''over three centuries, the Aworis have
been accommodating and permitting people of different clans to settle down across
their vast territory.''
He described the Aworis as the most accommodating ethnic
and lovers of strangers in the "entire West African coast.''
Sheikh Kamaldeen also revealed that lack of unity among
the natives of Awori have for years been their undoing and main reason their
guests have over the years been able to penetrate and laying claims on certain
portions of Awori land.
He said, “this is the time we need to come together as
one, we must bury our political and religious differences and form a formidable
resistance against all forms of political marginalization and oppression.’’
He further advised that the Olota-in-Council should as a
matter of urgency present a credible Crown Prince among the lots jostling for
the exalted royal seat.
“It is also necessary for our Olota-in-Council to note
the importance of electing a credible Prince as the next Olota.
‘’At this period in the history of our land, Ota need a
fearless, intelligent, and respectable oba who will be proactive in all fronts.
late Oba Oyede |
Sheikh Olohungbebe described the immediate past and late
Olota of Ota, Oba Moshood Alani Oyede as ''a kind hearted man who selflessly ruled
Ota, sacrificing his entire life for the ancient Awori town’s development.''
Sheikh Kamaldeen Olohungbebe is one of the sons of late Sheikh of
Africa, Sheikh Ibrahim Alabi Olohungbebe.
It was gathered that the eloquent Sheikh takes
after his father’s prowess in Islamic teachings and humanitarian activities.
However, it would be recall that there have been reported cases of alleged imposition of coronet obas and baales on some parts of Awori land by the Olowu of Owu, Abeokuta.
The Olota's palace had insisted all the alleged imposed obas and baales are illegal.
Further digs by our reporters revealed that some powerful individuals have been behind the alleged attempt to encroach some parts of Ota.
